BIG changes are coming to Sophie’s Cottage!
We’re going LEANER!
We’re going GREENER!
Sophie’s been doing a lot of thinking lately. Because the thing is, Sophie has had a lot of TIME to sit and ponder lately. TOO MUCH time. Yes, a lot of hours waiting for customers to happen by the store for some shopping therapy. Alas, she realized, SOMETHING’S got to change here! And it’s not going to happen by “sittin and wishin”. Time for a NEW plan!
THIS ECONOMY SUCKS! There, I said it aloud! Go ahead . . . say it with me! (You’ll feel much better!) And there are just so many things beyond our control that we just have to ‘grin and bear’ the ever increasing expense of. And too many ‘little indulgences’ that make these economic hard times more bearable that we are forcing ourselves to go without.
So, Sophie has come up with a plan! At a time when the price of EVERYTHING is going UP . . . . Sophie has figured out a way to bring her prices DOWN!
SERIOUSLY?!?!?
SERIOUSLY!
Now it’s not a ‘perfect’ plan, but it’s a DARN GOOD ONE.
In order to lower prices, Sophie had to lower expenses ’somewhere’. Don’t want to skip on QUALITY. Don’t want to skimp on QUANTITY and the great variety of products we offer. So, where can we lower our EXPENSES in order to lower our prices? In our ‘everyday operating expenses’!
Beginning in June 2008, Sophie’s Cottage
will be open on SATURDAYS ONLY, from 9am – 4pm
This will drastically lower our operating expenses, and allow us to
ALWAYS offer our products at 50% off retail!
The list of ‘little savings’ here and there on operating expenses is endless . . . . But basically by condensing our operation to one day a week, we will be a lean, green retail machine! And YOU get the good stuff you love at the best imaginable prices!
By not being tied down to the store five days a week, I’ll have MORE time to hand craft new product for the store, and hit the estate sales for wonderful vintage finds. So, you’ll be seeing more and more unique and ‘one of a kind’ items in the store. I’ll have more time to repurpose and recycle too. So while we’re doing our part to make this economy more bearable, we’ll also be being even more eco-friendly than ever! You would not believe the PILES of materials for potential projects we have stashed, just waiting for the TIME to create them. Now I’ll have the time!
There will be lots of new items and displays in the store every Saturday. And as always LOTS of pictures and how to’s here in the blog.
SEE YOU ON SATURDAY!

Good luck with your plan. It sounds sensible and if I lived near you I would definitely stop in.:)
