It kind of feels like the movie ‘Groundhog Day’ where we wake up to relive the same day over and over and over again! Yes, we awoke to gently falling snow again this morning. That’s twelve days of snow! I’m dreaming of a WET Christmas and can hardly wait to see some good ole Oregon RAIN again! This is a record amount of snow on the ground for Christmas here. Previous records were a COUPLE of inches back in the 20’s and 30’s!!
The poor little birds are starving in this weather! We always save our heels of bread and dry them out ad toss them out for the birds. But they keep getting covered up with snow! So, we had to create a ‘make-do’ bird feeder. AND find something to put in it since we are out of bread!
I took a small plastic storage bin and set it on it’s side to protect the food from getting covered with snow. Then placed a shoebox size plastic box inside that. Rummaged through the kitchen cupboards to find something that I thought the birds would eat. You think they’ll like multi grain Cheerios? We shall see!
It only took a couple of minutes for them to discover the food. And they DO like the Cheerios!
This little guy was waiting patiently for his turn at the ‘birdie buffet’!
Warm wishes to you and yours this Christmas Day.
