Awesome artwork by Wendy T.

Gotta LOVE the internet, and bumping into kindred spirits.  I ‘met’ Wendy from the UK via etsy.  After ‘chatting’ for a bit, she asked if she could do a portrait of Willow for me.  OF COURSE!

Alas, I did not have any really clear and detailed photos of Wiggly Willie!  I sent several of whatever I had to Wendy for her to work with, but I really HOPED that she would be able to capture Willow’s smile in the portrait.

How fabulous is this water color portrait of Willow!?!?!

Please pop in on Wendy’s Facebook page and take a peek at the rest of her custom work.  And if you are ever looking for a very special and unique gift for a pet loving friend or family member; you MUST have Wendy do their portrait!!

She will deliver your portrait via a digital file, then you get it printed up in whatever form you wish.

*(Sorry to spoil your surprise, Elliot and Megan; I really wanted to surprise you with the framed copy; but I just could not WAIT to share this!  I love it SO MUCH!!)

New thrifting place in Beaverton!

I discovered a new thrift shopping place in Beaverton!  The Garage Sale Warehouse on Walker Road, just east of Cedar Hills Blvd.  Most recently it housed a JoAnn Fabric store; and if you’ve been around as long as I have, you’ll remember that it was a Thriftway grocery store a long time ago.

This must be a ‘chain store’ or franchise because I’ve seen a few of them around, just never had time to stop in.  It’s set up with individual booths like an antique or craft mall.  There is another one on Western Ave in what used to be the Dollar Shoppe.  I had stopped in that one ONCE, and was unimpressed.  Nice enough stuff and decent prices even; but too pricey for ME to re-sell.

The one on Walker though had LOTS of great stuff at ‘my kind of prices’!  A lot of  the typical ‘garage sale crap’, lots of funky collectibles, some very nice antiques at very reasonable prices, and some great CHEAP CRAP just right for me!!!

6.14.14 projects etsy 078This little flower cart was a bit too expensive for me to buy to re-sell, but will make a great display piece!

6.19.14 Stars wedding signs 027Perfect size for holding journals and note cards in my booth at Stars.

6.14.14 projects etsy 076Vintage child size wicker chair.  Just needs a new paint job and it will be ready for a new home.

6.14.14 projects etsy 077This one was called a ‘project table’ on the price tag.  Gotta LOVE finding pieces that have already been sanded like this.  The legs need a bit more sanding.  I might keep this one for a bedside table on the other side of my bed.

6.14.14 projects etsy 014These ‘book boxes’ were the perfect color.

6.14.14 projects etsy 016Haven’t decided if I can part with them yet or not.  Might be handy to store crafting supplies that I need ‘at hand’ in the living room when I am watching TV.

So, that was my haul from the Walker Road Garage Sale Warehouse.  There were several more items I ‘could have’ bought,  (right price and style for what I do) but my project shed is getting pretty FULL.  I need to get to WORK on that stuff instead of buying MORE!

Ceramic busts

Look what I found at One Kings Lane!  (I had to make the link go to their Facebook page, because the link to the site kept saying ‘cannot connect to the REAL One Kings Lane)  I am getting SO sick of that ‘issue’ lately!!! grrrrr!

They ended up being MUCH bigger than I was expecting.  My plan is to keep one for me and then ‘alter’ the other three to sell at Stars.

This is the one I’ve decided to keep.

Her face is very similar to the one my son and his girlfriend gave me for Christmas last year.

P1130319This one has a ‘bun’ in her hair.

P1130320Almost a smirk on her face.

P1130318Much ‘gentler’ features on this one’s face.

Not sure just WHAT I am going to do to alter them . . .  probably paint the body part a slightly different color to start, then see what I’m inspired to do next.  Add crowns and wings?  And Santos like ‘cage bases’?  (I do have a few stashed that I found in my thrifitng rounds)

P1130325And this one????  Creeps me out a little!!!  The head is so tall and pointy!  And the mouth is so small!

P1130324Somewhat reminds me of those ALIEN pictures when I look at just a close up of the face!

Have you found any cool on-line shopping stuff lately???  Sure seems to be an abundance of ‘off price’ shopping options these days!  Zulilly is one I like to browse too!

Mine. ALL MINE!!!

12.5.12 finds crafts Stars 002Look at my beeeeeautiful new cloches!!!  I found the link for this discount craft supply and decor site on Pinterest, and I did a little bit of ME shopping for once!

12.5.12 finds crafts Stars 001After my HUGE disappointment over the bell cloche I bought at Home Goods (practically PAPER thin glass!)  that I was going to use in my booth at Stars (but REALLY wanted to keep for myself) which broke before it even got to Stars (despite multiple payers of bubble wrap!) I decided I deserved a little something for ME!

This PAIR of HEAVY, sturdy glass cloches was only $30.00 at  Save-On-Crafts.  Of course there is shipping to add to that, but even shipping was very reasonable.  There were all kinds of things that I ‘could have’ talked myself into ‘needing to buy’; but I kept it to a minimum.

12.5.12 finds crafts Stars 005I also got three of these wood crown silhouettes.  Not sure what I’ll do with them yet; but 2 of them will be embellishments on ‘something’ one of  these days.  I’m keeping one for my personal crown collection.

12.5.12 finds crafts Stars 009I got one spool of this ‘perfect’ shade of aqua ribbon, which I can use on EVERYTHING!

12.5.12 finds crafts Stars 010And this thin BURLAP ribbon; which actually I DON’T recommend.  It’s good stuff.  It’s just so narrow that you can hardly tell it’s burlap.  They had MANY different size options; which I’ll probably try next time.

So, if you are looking for some craft supplies or pretty apothecary jars or cloches, give the Save-on-crafts website a gander!
