Beach Cottage Decor now at Stars

I rearranged my wall space at Stars and put out all the beach cottage decor.

P1360399I brought in my shabby white crates to create shelves for the booth.

A couple of shabby blue nightstands tucked in there, and a white wall shelf.

A sweet vintage shabby white child’s chair and a little three legged foot stool.

Shell topped jars, shell filled jars and shell candle jars.  A little round table with a shabby white trug on top.

Distressed turquoise frames with ‘floating’ white fingerling starfish.  Some BIG sugar starfish, painted white and glittered.

A shabby vintage spice rack filled with little jars of shells and sea glass.  Some small mermaid crowns and a sugar starfish mounted atop a shabby white candle holder.

P1360419

I did some rearranging and stocking of my big booth too.

Lots of stacks of old books, as always.

This giant turquoise cubby shelf is filled with vintage milk glass and Ironstone pieces.

Some additional, and smaller, cubby shelves.

LOVE this vintage chicken tureen!

P1360434

I’ve added lots of this style of vintage Ironstone with the scalloped edges.

Beautiful hand painted vintage milk glass vase with gold accents and ruffled edge.  Gold glitter Eiffel Tower tags.  Little vintage vanity jars.  Old bottles and upcycled bottles with repro labels.

Vintage metal chair with new gold paint and pretty soft blue and gold Toile covered seat.

P1360446

Come on by and check it all out.  The construction on the next block continues; BUT, they have not been blocking off the side street parking as much lately.

Little chest make-over

This is my very favorite size of chests.  Big enough to hold plenty of stuff, but not too big to function as a night stand.

P1360241

She’s a real ‘Plain Jane’ and was pretty beat up when I found her.

P1360242

It almost looks like someone used her to cut teeth on; and there were several good size water stains on the top.

P1360246

You can tell that it is quite because there is actual WOOD on the back and not just particle board.

P1360244

Given how old this chest is and how beat up it was, I crossed my fingers and took a deep breath before I opened the drawers to see what condition they were in.

P1360243To my complete surprise and delight, the drawers were immaculate!!!  (that one little spot you see is from my camera, not something on the drawer)  These are seriously the cleanest drawers I have ever seen on an old chest.

P1360265

A good bit of sanding, some soft grey colored paint and a bit more sanding to distress and she was ready for her new knobs.

P1360267With little crowns on them!  I have had these knobs for YEARS, just waiting for the perfect piece to use them on.

All ready to go to my booth at Stars.

My booth was completely disheveled after the five day sale.  But that is a GOOD thing, because it means that a lot of stuff sold!

I ended up putting the new grey chest in my wall space; topped with a couple of grey trugs.

P1360300This next week I’ll be changing over the wall space to BEACH decor.

Here’s my tidied up big booth.

Stay tuned for the BIG announcement about the new ‘hang out’ for Sophie’s Cottage.

Time for another great SALE at Stars Antique Mall!

They call this one their ‘Haggle Sale’.  Many dealers are on site during the sale dates, and welcome haggling for better prices on the items in their booth.  I am not personally able to be there during the sale, so I just offer 50% off EVERYTHING IN MY BOOTH during the sale.  It’s a great time to grab that piece you’ve had your eye on for a while now!

THE SALE RUNS FRIDAY, 1/12 – MONDAY, 1/15, 2017.  HOURS 11AM – 6PM

I just stocked lots of new inventory, including Valentine gifts and decor.

LOTS of different colors and styles of hand stitched felt hearts, in various sizes.  Prices start at $3.00 and go up to $29.00, with a median price of $5.00.  Most of them with little ‘words of love’ added to them; but also some ‘not Valentine specific’ hearts that could be used year round with vintage buttons or just simple embroidered designs.

Other vintage and upcycled Valentine items too.  ALL 50% off during the sale.

LOTS of furniture too; mostly white and aqua / turquoise.  ALL 50% 0FF during the sale.

And, as always; lots of vintage Ironstone dishes, vintage Milk glass dishes and vases and frames.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY SHOPPING!

HAPPY SAVINGS!

My NEW Baby!!!

Isn’t she absolutely adorable?!?!?!

f9b779884f971dfd73f8aca1c9bc5135This is a picture I found on-line since I am still cleaning mine up.  But I found this EXACT mixer with the two matching bowls at the thrift store today.  The biggest bowl has a chip in it though.

I have wanted a ‘pretty’ stand mixer; pretty enough to leave sitting out on the counter, for as long as I can remember.  And it works!!  But I can’t get the beaters out?!?!?  Even Michael tried to no avail.  I looked around on-line for old instruction manuals (it’s a 1950’s version) to see if there was a secret to getting the beaters out.  No luck there either.

Finally cam across a you-tube video of how to use the juicer attachment (which I do not have).  Decided to watch and see if maybe they showed how to remove the beaters.  They just pulled them out!  But they were hard to get out in the video too.  So, maybe I’ll be able to get them out after I get it all cleaned up.  Lots of ‘grease marks’ all over it to clean.

I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT MY PRETTY NEW MIXER . . . . . . AND MY NEW HOME THAT I WILL BE TAKING IT TO IN LESS THAN A MONTH!!

Yep!  I finally found a place. . . . AND it has an attached garage!  Hallelujah for that garage!!  So, now it’s full steam ahead on the packing.

Seems like I have been ‘packing and purging’ for forEVER already.  feels so good to finally have an end in sight.  And I can’t wait to make the new place ‘my own’ and share the pictures and progress with you all here in my blog.

I’ve been heavily stocking my space at Stars in anticipation of my upcoming move.

P1200868I’ve got it full enough right now that I shouldn’t need to take in any more inventory until after I get moved.  All the furniture in my booth is stacked 2-3 pieces high, so I’ll just lower the stacks as things sell, and rearrange and tidy up every week as needed.

P1200919Took in a HUGE stack of frames last week!

P1200918Some really BIG gold frames, behind the big distressed framed chalk boards.

P1200914

A few ‘word cloud’ chalk boards; but the more popular name for these seems to be ‘speech bubbles’.  Great fun to use for photos at parties.

P1200915

A couple of vintage styled dry erase boards.

P1200922

And still MORE frames!

P1200856Here is a better look at a grouping of white and gold distressed frames that are a bit hidden in the above pictures.

P1200857It’s been ages since I’ve had a lot of frames in stick so they are bound to sell quickly!

P1200798How cute is this vintage pair of suede shoes!?!?

P1200871One of a kind teddy bear lamp that I made.

P1200842Over-stuffed ‘granny’ foot stool.

P1200844

And a couple more vintage foot stools; newly reupholstered.

P1200931I’ve built up quite the collection of vintage cream pitchers and sugar bowls.

P1200874And plenty of ‘butter bells’.  I LOVE my butter bell.  Keeps the butter nice and soft and FRESH without refrigeration.

P1200875And look at this CUTIE PATOOTIE mini butter bell with it’s mama!!!

P1200889Replenished the vintage Milk Glass dishes.  The gold rimmed ones are SO pretty!

P1200890Milk glass bowls and custard cups.

P1200891Pretty scalloped Milk Glass fruit cups and a creamer.

P1200893Gold rimmed serving bowl and a lace edge Milk Glass candy dish.  I’ve got several of the candy dished in this small size and a larger size.  Perfect for your party candy buffet!

P1200892Adorable Milk Glass egg cups.

P1200894LOTS of vintage Ironstone in stock too.

P1200877Dessert / Hors d’ourves size stoneware plates for your next party.  So much nicer to use than paper plates.

P1200880And of course Ironstone BOWLS.  Bowls always seem to sell the fastest.

P1200879And I’m well stocked on several sizes and styles of stoneware bowls and ramekins.

P1200878Including these extra BIG Ironstone soup/cereal bowls.

P1200873Plenty of white Ironstone canisters, utensil crocks and covered casserole dishes too.

P1200876Several sets of white stoneware napkin rings too!  Chickens, bunnies, kittens and plain ones.

P1200923And for those warm summer nights when you want to languish on the patio . . . this big rusty rooster is a candle lantern! One wing lifts up to place a candle inside.

P1200911So, fret not if you don’t hear much from me for the next month or so.  I’ve got a few posts ‘written and ready to publish’ saved up so I’ll have SOME new content to add.  But I’m going to be pretty much buried in bubble wrap and boxes for the next month.  Wish me luck!

Findings

Here’s a bit of what I’ve found on my thrifting ventures lately:

P1080491White Stoneware pitchers.  (sorry about all the blotches on the pictures.  Must be something on my camera lens?!) This is my very favorite shape of white pitchers, and not that readily found too often.  Let alone finding ALL THREE at the same time.  I’ve always wanted to start my own white pitcher collection, but always convince myself to sell everything I find.  This time I decided to keep them!  And I discovered that I had one more, a smaller one, in one of my booths to add to my collection!

P1080492Little glass spice bottle (I put a Halloween label on it) A tall funky heart shaped bottle (will be made into a ‘love potion’ bottle for Valentines Day) and a bell shaped cloche.  (always need these!)

P1080533The bottle on the left is the one from the previous pic.

P1080493

Cute dog figurine (NO idea what to do with it!?!)  Little urn (to fill with a little nest or bottle brush tree or use as a dessert plate pedestal) small glass (to use for a cupcake stand base) and a salt shaker (to use as a pedestal for a little bird)

P1080494This is the little white bird that I want to put on the previous salt shaker.  The bird is also a salt shaker though, so I have to figure out a way to cover up the holes).  Little ceramic bird (maybe paint it black for Halloween??)

5.21.13 finds signs projects 032It’s the same bird as the one on the left here; that I painted white and used as a cloche handle.

P1080495Stoneware bowls (ALWAYS on my ‘look for’ list; any shade of white/cream)  Little stoneware crock that I added a Halloween label to.

P1080496Large hurricane vase that I inverted and added a knob to, to make it into a cloche.

P1080498BIG lettuce shaped salad bowl!

P1080500

Such a cute little set of milk glass jars with wicker carrier.  Any one know what this might have originally been used for??  Debating whether or not to ‘piece it out’ and sell bottles and carries individually; or leave it as a set???  What do you think?  One of the lids was GLUED on to the base, which we (the cashier and I) both noticed at checkout.  I decided to get it anyway.  Soaked it in warm soapy water for a while and it came right apart and the glue peeled right off.

P1080499Such cute ‘pot belly’ shaped jars!

P1080503Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!  That bell cloche fits this angle candle pedestal perfectly!  Maybe paint the pedestal white and pair them up??

P1080504Itty bitty angels; super fragile; might have to glue them in a glass jar to protect them.

P1080506These apothecary jars originally had brushed aluminum lids; which I spray painted black.  Will add some collage labels to these.

P1070115

Here are some similar jars I did a while back; embellished with keys and papers.

P1080507A big vintage cherub vase.

P1080509Upcycled / repurposed it into a tall cake pedestal.

P1080515

 With faux display cake.

P1080596For sale in my booth at Curiosities in Beaverton for $29.00.  The taller stand is $39.00.  Perfect pieces for a small wedding cake OR a cupcake buffet!

Lots of new SMALLS at Stars

P1070335A big ole basket FULL of assorted monograms and small signs.  Priced $3 – $10.00.

P1070315Added a lot of new things to the spinner rack.

P1070313Bags of colorful little drink umbrellas for your summer party.

P1070314A new batch of little fauXzen Charlottes for your altered art projects.

P1070317Wild flower design blank note cards.

P1070318Sets of three blank note cards.

P1070320Very vintage looking gold foil note cards.

P1070319I moved the packaged nests with eggs to the spinner rack.

P1070321Always plenty of cute mini take out gift boxes and gift enclosure cards.

P1070305An AMAZING cake plate with dome lid!!!!  I have never seen one like this, where the platter sits flat on the table.  The platter has a raised rim that the dome top fits inside of, so the lid CAN’T slide off!  (there is one VERY tiny chip on the rim; barely noticeable)

P1070272Doing some beach themed collages.

P1070273LOVE the sparkles on the sea horses!!

1 stars bannerBrought in a LOT of newly created shell topped bottles, and have them displayed in the ‘over the bed’ shelf.

P1070087

P1070088And some newly made sea glass wreaths!

P1070118This big one has already sold, but I have several more to take in.

P1070090A couple of framed and matted sea glass collections.

P1070309And the biggest change is that I moved all the white dinner dishes from one of the ‘outward facing shelves’ on the back aisle to the big aqua hutch right by the entrance.  Just swapped them out with the cake pedestals that were there.

P1070298The dessert stands (MOST of them that is!) are here, where the white plated and bowls used to be.

P1070328It just makes more sense to have the rest of the white dishes closer to the others that I moved to the right side of the entrance a while back.  PLUS, the plates were not selling very well where I had them.  So hopefully this will improve sales!

00B0B_eZKwqEZX0bN_600x450

This picture was taken BEFORE I removed the cake stands and put the plates and bowls on the hutch, but it’s the only picture that I have where you can SEE how nicely the display ‘transitions’ from the two front shelves to the hutch.

P1070307Just piled the stacks as high as I could!

P1070308And with them now being right at waist level, it will be easier to ‘dig through them’ to find exactly what you need!

P1070329Beat the heat and enjoy a bit of SHOPPING THERAPY at STARS!
