Two-step stool with DRAWER

A little DRAWER in a step stool?!?!?  I love that!

P1280307

This sweet little stool really didn’t ‘need’ to be made over at all . . . it was in perfect condition; but you know me!!!  I can never leave well enough alone!

P1280391

I removed the drawer knob and gave the whole thing a good sanding.

Some aqua paint and more sanding to distress.  Another ‘perfect piece’ to use one of my little aqua ceramic rose knobs on!!

And off to my booth at Stars it goes!

P1280543

Great little piece for adding height to displays in my booth (while it lasts!)

P1280641

Here’s a little peek at some of the other new stuff in my booth:

P1280706

Ceramic and stoneware bunny dishes.

P1280707

Covered duck tureens and a tiny duck pitcher.

P1280640

Vintage metal plant stand set up as a serving station.

P1280710

One of my ‘yard wreaths’ (hand crafted using twigs, bark and moss collected from my yard)

P1280651

A new batch of small frames; some with glass and backings, some without.

A couple more vintage crystal lamps with NEW Paris script shades.

P1280481

How adorable is this box of vintage cocktail forks!?!?!  (Sorry about the glare!  I had to wrap the box in plastic wrap to be sure none of the forks ‘went missing’)

P1280688

Stop on by if you haven’t been at Stars in a while.  LOTS of new stuff in my booth  . . . and throughout the entire mall!

Adding just a little color

Pair of pretty shell prints in monochromatic color scheme.  Initially I had looked at these ‘just for the frames’; but the frames were not removable.  I really liked the pictures, and usually I’m all about monochrome colors.  These were just TOO bland for me.

I have always liked this kind of ‘text book’ drawing; so I decided to buy them and see how difficult it would be to repaint the frames with NOT being able to remove them.

The hardest part of this quick make-over was taping the paper over the glass to protect it while I painted the frames.

P1270120

A couple of quick coats of paint; then some sanding (sand BEFORE you removed the paper covering the glass!).  Just a touch of color; the distressing brings out the original frame color to coordinate with the pictures.

Which do you like better?  Original color or the aqua?

UPCYCLED Little Treasure Chest

Little trunk style jewelry chest I recently found.

Nice clean ‘innards’? Check.  Paper peeling off?  I was probably going to remove it before I painted it anyhow.  Sold!

It was actually a nice finish under the paper.  It was a bit harder to get all that paper off than I’d hoped.  I peeled off whatever would easily come off first; which wasn’t much!  Then I soaked a dishcloth in hot water and laid that over the remaining paper.  After letting that sit for a bit, I used a paint scraper to get ‘most’ of it off.  finally had to use some ‘Goof Off’ to get the last little bits of paper off.  Then a little sanding before repainting.

P1270084

Aqua paint (of course!) and a bit of sanding to distress.

P1270085

A section of a pretty paper napkin decoupaged on the top for a little added ‘oomph’.

P1270083Done and already SOLD, at Stars.

Another little ‘cook book’ shelf

P1220094I like this one much better than the first one I did a while back.  That one only had one drawer and a niche.  I painted this one aqua and distressed the edges, and decided to leave it ‘unadorned’.

P1190336

This is the other one I did a while ago.  Not sure if it’s because of the French wording on it, or the white paint, but it has not sold yet.  Might have to bring it home and repaint it aqua!  We’ll see how quickly the new aqua one sells.

P1220043Not too bad ‘as found’, but I don’t like knotty pine.

P1220047

And it was a bit worn along the edges.

P1220044Clean drawer innards? Check.

P1220046

It has little holes drilled in the back for mounting it on the wall.  I decided to leave those instead of fill them.  But you could easily fill them with putty, sand and paint over them if you wanted to.

P1220097I didn’t have any other knobs that looked better than the original ones, so I cleaned them up (were a bit greasy from being in a kitchen) and put them back on after painting and sanding.

P1220095

Maybe I should have painted the knobs to match??

P1220096Some vintage dictionary paper in the drawers, just because, and it’s ready to go to my booth at Stars.
