Tis the season when there’s no such thing as a quick trip to the mall or a ‘big box’ store to grab a gift or card.  So if you need a quick gift and don’t want to dampen your holiday spirit by spending half an hour hunting for a parking space or dealiong with the crowds and long checkout lines and cranky cashiers . . . . come see Sophie!!

She’s been VERY busy stocking the store with lots of great gifts!

Have a peek:

And that’s not even ALL of it!!!  There’s more that I just didn’t get pictures of.  And of course lots of great Christmas decor, both primitive and shabby cottage.

That’s Build Your Own Basket!  (as in gift basket!)

I found this ‘piece’ made from ten wine crates at the thrift store a while back.  Had NO IDEA what I was going to do with it; but it was unique and the price was right.

UNFORTUNATELY, I didn’t look at the back side of it, and the crates on the back weren’t painted the same as the front!

Time to experiment with paint and see if I can mix something up to match the rest of the paint color.

Not a bad match if I do say so myself!  Now, what to use it for?!?!?!  Ten empty cubbies to fill up . . .  but the lower ones and especially the ones on the backside aren’t terribly visible since things not at eye level are easily overlooked.

I decided to create a build your own gift bag or box station out of it.  The gifts items in the top part and the boxes and bags in the lower part.  Since most people don’t want price tags on items they are giving as gifts, (and it’s a pain to remove price tags!) I decided that I wouldn’t put price tags on the items in the gift station, but have everything be the same price; so no price tags are needed.

I filled it with assorted journals, notecards, listpads, bookmarks, pocket calendars and magnets.

By stacking them upright in the top bins I had room for LOTS of variety!  For the items that wouldn’t fit in the top part here, I used baskets and put them on the upper shelves on the backside.

Lip gloss, bath fizzies, shower gel, lotion, bath beads, candles . . .

Then I filled the rest of the lower shelves with ‘ready to use’ gift bags with tissue paper, curly ribbon and a hand made tag.

And I couldn’t let that little area between the top and bottom go to waste, so I put a few extra bags, left flat, in there.

The perfect spot to ‘grab a gift’ and go!

All items are retail priced at $3.95; which means Sophie’s price is just $2.00!  You can put together a very nice gift box, basket of bag containing four items for just $10.00.

GIFT IDEAS for teachers, dads and grads

I’ll start with the one for dad.  Because we only have ONE ‘dad’ gift in the store. . . . . BUT, it is a really special one!  It’s a little hard to read in the picture.  It says, “The greatest gift I ever had, I got from God, I call him dad.”

I thought these little craft totes would make a great teacher gift with a Starbucks or craft store gift card tucked into a pocket.

Teacher memo sets:

These lemon-mint votives smell DIVINE!  So nice to tuck a yummy smelling votive candle in with a gift.

Little journal and pen sets in pretty floral prints.  LOTS of other little stationary gift sets throughout the store.  A magnetic list pad with a pen is something everyone can use another one of!

Gifts for the graduate.  Ahhhhhh. . . . .  so many things they NEED as they head out into the world.  We don’t have any of those ‘needful things’!  But some very inspirational and sentimental gifts to tuck in with some of the necessities to remind them to seek balance as they make their way in the world.

“May your day be filled with blessings like the stars that light the sky; and may you always have the courage to spread your wings and fly.”

“Success is a journey, not a destination.”

“Success is simply getting up once oftener than you fall down.”

“Time changes many things, but not the joy that friendship brings.”

“If we did everything we’re capable of, we’d overwhelm ourselves.”

“Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but the realization of how much you already have.”

“Life is a balance between holding on and letting go.”

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

The jelly bean dilemma!

I want to thank all of you who offered suggestions for what to call the little gift boxes of jelly beans.  They were all good ideas and I really liked them all.  I was just ‘stuck’ on wanting to stay with ‘cupid’ as the first word to keep the ‘theme’ going.  And further stuck with wanting both words to begin with a ‘k’ sound to sort of match the cupid corn and cupid kisses.

So, here’s what I finally came up with!

Here are the tags I made for the other two:

Someone asked me where they might find little plastic boxes like these to just buy.  (Other than buying the packaged ribbon and using the empties)  I’ve never seen anything like them, but then I’ve never really LOOKED for them.  But if I WAS going to look for them I’d probably search the internet first to get some ideas of types of places to look locally.

Perhaps places like bakeries have something similar.  And I know that the big paper store in our area has all kinds of paper and cardboard boxes that they sell.  I’ve not noticed CLEAR ones, but as I said, I’ve not specifically looked.  I have noticed ‘frosted’ plastic boxes.  And ‘velum type’ little Chinese take out boxes.

SO, if any of you find a source for the boxes, DO TELL!

More PINK!!

Pins, frames and journals.

Flowers and frills.

Sparkly pink garland.

Fun pink bead garland.

Memory jar

How sweet is this?!?!?!  And what an ‘adaptable’ idea for just about ANY occasion!  I could see a ‘Christmas version’ of this with tinsel and little ornaments and a picture of Christmas morning.

One for a new baby containing the hospital bracelet and name card and a pair of booties tied to the top.

There are SO many great little charms and embellishments in the scrapbook supplies these days that the possibilities are endless!  Nearly anything that you might do a scrapbook ‘page’ of could also be make into a memory jar.

Counting down to Christmas!

Just over a week left before Christmas.  Do you have all your shopping done???  If you still need just a couple of little gifts, Sophie’s got lots of great ones, big and small to choose from.  Take a peek:

Something SWEET is always a hit at the holidays.  We’ve got these pretty holiday tins filled with chocolate drizzled caramel corn.  (and let me tell you, that stuff is YUMMY!!!)

And these pretty ceramic gift canisters filled with peppermint bark

Pretty holiday mugs filled with lots of different goodies!  Flavored coffees, teas, cocoas, chocolate covered pretzels, biscotti, chocolate covered stirring spoons, and even tiny teddy bears!   I’m happy to gift bag your purchase for free so you’re all set to give it!

A pretty little jar of hard candies makes a nice hostess gift.

Or a mini scrapbook kit or card making kit:

Jar candles always make a nice gift.  We have several that I have decorated with pretty holiday labels.

These little buttered rum jar candles are my current favorite!  Great little stocking stuffer,  co-worker or neighbor gift.  This is what I’ve been burning this week in the store and that little candle really fills the whole store with yumminess!

Only have a few of these left.  They were more popular little gifts than I anticipated!  (but something that you could easily put together yourself too)  In a pretty holiday cello bag I enclosed two packets of flavored cocoa and a chocolate covered pretzel rod.  Tied it up with curly ribbon and a snowflake ornament and added tags (printed them up on my computer) that say ‘warm wishes’.

I think I’ve made a couple HUNDRED assorted tags with initials on them over the last few weeks!  (and most of them are priced at just one dollar!)  They make perfect little enclosures for a card or gift, or use as a package tie on!

Know someone who needs a little pampering this holiday season?  We’ve got cute little bath accessories perfect for stocking stuffers of a small gift exchange:

And some wonderful bigger gift baskets too!

Pretty stationary, note cards, list pads and journals make a nice gift:

And of course, ornaments are always a favorite gift and fun to decorate your packages with!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
