Good news / Bad news

Well, I have some bad news and some good news.  Bad for ME.  GOOD for you.  The bad news first.  This is what the passenger side of my car now looks like:

It actually looks a lot WORSE in person.  You can’t really see how DEEP the dent is in the photo.  It’s deep enough that I can’t open that door anymore.  I’m fine.  My car, notsomuch!   Thanks to another driver in a parking lot who ‘saw me but thought I was going to let him to go by’, even though he had a STOP sign and I had the right of way.

Currently dealing with insurance and just waiting to hear what they decide.  Here’s the ‘back story’.  The ‘Cruiser’ is 15 years old and has served me well for the past 7 years.  I definitely ‘got my money’s worth’ out if it.  Because it’s got such a low resale value at this point, it was futile for me to have full coverage on it anymore; and most likely it is going to be deemed ‘totaled’.  And while I knew the day was coming, in the not too distant future, that I was going to have to replace it, I really can’t afford to do so just yet.  I was really hoping to get at least another year out of it.  It’s still driveable, but isn’t going to be worth squat as a trade in.  sigh.

So, what’s the GOOD news?
The good news is that because I need to drum up considerably more funds to replace my vehicle, I’m having a 50% off sale in my booths at Stars.

Look for these red and white ‘50% OFF’ coupons in both of my booths.  You have to have a coupon to get the discount.  The discount is good for everything you purchase from my booths, through May 31, 2019.  After that, I’ll be extending the sale ‘as needed’, until I have enough to replace the Cruiser.

You can also print a coupon directly from the Stars website.   The coupon on the site will look a little different than the ones I printed on my PC, but the offer is the same.

I was just in Stars yesterday, rearranging and restocking, so there is a huge variety and selection of goods awaiting your shopping, and SAVING, pleasure!  And IF there is something that you have seen in my booth in the past and always coveted, but don’t see there just now; feel free to ASK ME!  It might just be something that I pulled and took home when I changed out inventory.  I’ll be happy to take it back in for you; and even have them HOLD it ‘just for you’ at the front desk.

As you can see, both booths are jam-packed with goods.  I will continue to bring in MORE stock every week.   I’ll be making more and resupplying the coupons too.  IF, for some reason you can’t locate a coupon while you are there; ask them to CALL ME, and I will give them a verbal okay for your 50% discount.

The sale begins Thursday, March 1 and continues through Monday, March 5, 2018.

STORE HOURS ARE 11am – 6pm; 7 days a week

And, as I am in the habit of always doing, everything in MY booth will be 50% off during this sale.  Price tags show the regular price; discount will be given at check-out.  Look for the sale signs in the other booths for the discount that other vendors are offering.

The moving sale at Curiosities is moving along QUICKLY . . . just ADDED more stuff!!

Week #2 of my moving sale at Curiosities and I’ve already had to take in MORE stuff!!  It was just looking TOO bare, too soon!  And Travis just called to let me know that ALL the rest of the aqua display shelves had just sold.  Reckon it’s time to break out the good ole ‘wood crates and boards’ to use for shelving.  (the crates will NOT be for sale, sorry; I ALWAYS have a need for those!)

“Borrowed” a few pieces from Michael to get me through last week; including this weathered cedar shelf with open back.  Perfect plant shelf for the patio.  Original price $80.00.  NOW JUST $40.00.

Also brought in these small aqua corner shelves.

This is 2 of them stacked on top of each other.  Regular price: $39.00.  Half off will be $19.50.

This one is slightly smaller than the other two.  Regular price: $29.00.  $15.50 at half off.

These bigger tan corner shelves are FABULOUS display pieces for a mall booth setting.  Corners are SO difficult to ‘use’ for display, and all too often are just left bare!  Make better use of  that valuable real estate with corner shelves like this.  they are big enough to stack a regular shelf on top of.  (which is what I usually did)  Originally $49.00; with half price discount $25.00.

ALL items in my booth at Curiosities still have the REGULAR price on the price tag.  The 50% discount will be given at check-out.

Another naturally weathered cedar piece; this time a ‘stair step’ shelf.  Great display piece or patio plant shelf.  Half off price is; $30.00.

Found a huge stash of altered journals!  They are marked down to $5.00 AND will get an additional 50% discount at check out.  Great to have on hand when you need a quick gift!

LOTS of vintage pitchers and creamers still available.  I always keep these very reasonable priced.  MIGHT decide to pull all the white dishes and take them to Stars.  So if you’ve had your eye on these, get them NOW before I take them to Stars and they are FULL price again!

All in all, things are selling down much FASTER than I had expected.  After next week I’ll start pulling the things that aren’t moving.  Prices will NOT go lower than half off.  (I still have to pay my booth rent afterall!)

Since I have two square tables that are about the same size, but very different styles, I decided to stencil a design on top of this one.   After painting the table and sanding it to distress; I stenciled on the design and once dry sanded some MORE to distress the stencil.  Quick coat of *varnish and done!

*I typically only varnish the TOP of tables, dressers etc to protect them from  damage from use.  The legs, drawers, sides etc are left unvarnished so that they will naturally distress more with age.

Vintage metal vanity chair.

Well I guess I forgot to take an after picture of JUST the chair, so this’ll have to do.  I’m on the hunt for an inexpensive round foam cushion to cover and add to the seat, but I’ll take it in ‘as is’ for the time being.

White paint and some distressing give it a bit more personality.  I ‘considered’ adding some kind of design to the top, but figured it will probably actually get USED as a step stool, and the design would wear off too quickly.

And the desk top leftover after I made 2 night stand out of the drawers.

Michael attached the desk top to this rusty old set of legs he had.  ( I spray painted the legs with a clear coat before he attached them,  this keeps them from rusting more AND shedding rust on the carpet.

The top distressed just beautifully!!!

OOPS!  Looks like I forgot the BEFORE picture for this one. sigh. I just get SO excited when we have a dry day, I kind of go into a ‘painting frenzy’!  hehe.  This was originally dark brown.

I distressed the edges and the surface of all the shelves.

As much as I LOVE my signature ‘beachy blue’ paint color, every so often I feel the needs to ‘cleanse my palette’ and do something different.  Will be changing over my booth at Stars to predominately WHITE sometime next week.    In order to make ROOM for all this white stuff, I may need to pull out some of the existing product.  Depends upon how busy it was for the four day Expo sale at Stars.

And if I have to pull some old stuff from Stars to make room for the new white stuff, I’ll be stocking that stuff at Curiosities.  So even though I am in ‘clearance mode’ for moving out, I will be adding MORE inventory as things sell down!

Coming (and GOING) attractions

Well if you haven’t been to my booth in the new antique mall, Curiosities in Beaverton; you have precious little time left to do so.

The mall will still be there, but my booth, will not be as of the end of March.  I really did my best to make it work.  Really thought that a location ‘closer in’ the suburbs (more convenient for our former store customers than Stars) would be IDEAL.  Alas, it just isn’t working out for me.

The good news is that I will be having a moving sale and EVERYTHING in my booth (including several  of the big shelves and display fixtures!) will be 50% off.

I will be returning as a vendor to Every Husband’s Nightmare for the spring show April 21 – 26th.  

 I can no longer ‘haul and set up an entire mini store’ like I used to do for this show.  So I had to think of something that I could more easily set up and tear down and haul.  I’ve built up quite an extensive collection of hand painted signs via my etsy shop and decided that they would be just perfect for the show.  (esty prices run a little HIGHER than what I price my signs at for local sale) .

HERE A SALE! THERE A SALE! EVERYWHERE A SALE SALE!!

Stars Antique Malls in Portland is starting a new Facebook advertising campaign beginning TODAY/Tomorrow.  Every Wednesday they will announce the four participating antique dealers and the Discount % they will give to those whom have seen the sale ad on the  Stars Facebook page.

  Facebook is the ONLY place this sale will be advertised, and the sale is always for one day, Thursday only.  No signs will be posted in the store, so you have to know ahead of time, who is on sale that day.  AND you’ll need to mention that you are there for the Facebook sale to the cashier at checkout in order for them to give you the discount.

It just so happens that “I” am amongst the vendors participating this first week.  ALL DAY tomorrow, EVERYTHING (including already reduced items!!!) in my booth is 20% off.  I just stocked yesterday and took in lost of new stuff.  As I’ve already mentioned, January was a busy month for furniture sales at Stars, so I’ve got a lot of new furniture:
