One more time!

I painted this BIG vintage suitcase quite a while ago.

I was just learning to stencil, and, as you can see, I did NOT  do a very good stenciling job on this suitcase.

Between the bad stenciling job and the black paint so easily getting scratched up; I’m not surprised that it didn’t sell.

But it’s a really NICE old suitcase; big and with pristine ‘innards’.  ( It still has the original key to lock the suitcase!) I decided to hang onto it until I figured out something else to do with it.

After ‘over thinking’ about what to do with it for FAR too long; I decided to go with my ‘go to’ color.  Combined a couple of different stencils to decorate it with, and added a big decorative key, tied on with a tulle bow.

It’s available for purchase for $65.00, in my booth at Stars.

Plastic Eiffel tower bottle

I’ve almost always kept a little ‘sub section’ of Paris chic items in my booth at Stars.  Eiffel Tower ‘sculptures’ are fairly common to find at estate/rummage sales and thrift stores.

This big plastic bottle from Paris Las Vegas is a frequently found item.  I think someone told me that it is a ‘drink container’?  (heckuva drink!!)    I have bought and re-sold several ‘as is’.  But this last time, I had a heavy glass Eiffel tower bottle and a substantial black wire Eiffel Tower sculpture; and the clear plastic just looked too ‘flimsy’ in the group.

Flat black spray paint to the rescue!  ( the cheapo $.99 can @ Home Depot kind!)  Looks SO much better painted!  I thought about taking it a step further, and lightly sanding all the raised parts to enhance the detail more.  Tested a small spot and it just looked ‘scratched up’.  SO I painted over it again.

Here it is, on display in my space at Stars.

The glass bottle has sold, and been replaces with a MUCH bigger glass bottle; shown below.  (I just forgot to take a close up picture of the new BIG glass bottle!)

Can you see it there, behind and to the right of the black wire one?  Found it at a recent rummage sale.  It WAS one of those kitchen decor bottles filled with all sorts of chili pepper and olives and green things, artfully arranged in vinegar.

I embellished this one a little, with a turquoise felt chandelier tag, little vintage key and a snippet of pretty ribbon.  The HARDEST part with this project was getting ‘all that crud out of the bottle’!  They REALLY pack that stuff in there!  And it SMELLS!  (and not a good smell!)

More Paris themed items in the works.  A wood bread box, a vintage wood canister set and some tags!

You’ll find these items (and LOTS more!) for sale in my booth at Stars Antique Mall in Portland, Oregon.

Open 11am – 6pm seven days a week!

More painted suitcases

I think I’m  ADDICTED!  Once you paint one, then come across more REALLY CHEAP (ugly colors!) suitcases, you’ll be hooked.

These little cosmetic cases didn’t have enough space to do a very BIG design, so I used my alphabet stamps on these.

TRIED to do something on the TOP, but with it being curved it was too difficult.

One for the BEACH!

Another Paris with chandelier.

Smaller Paris with different chandelier.

The little one that started it all!

The  BIG MAMA; and final one, for now.  (until I get my hands on MORE suitcases!)

P.S. To answer a question left in a comment;  the Eiffel Tower on that last suitcase is a laser cut wood one from the craft store that I just painted black.  The chandelier is made from thick felt; also from craft store, but a couple of YEARS ago.  Been saving them for just the right project!

Quick and easy repainted resin crosses

I liked the detail on these resin crosses, but not the color.

I spray painted them a flat brown.

Then lightly sponged on some black (craft paint) to highlight the detail.

Now they look great with the Paris apartment decor in our booth at the antique mall!
