My NEW Baby!!!

Isn’t she absolutely adorable?!?!?!

f9b779884f971dfd73f8aca1c9bc5135This is a picture I found on-line since I am still cleaning mine up.  But I found this EXACT mixer with the two matching bowls at the thrift store today.  The biggest bowl has a chip in it though.

I have wanted a ‘pretty’ stand mixer; pretty enough to leave sitting out on the counter, for as long as I can remember.  And it works!!  But I can’t get the beaters out?!?!?  Even Michael tried to no avail.  I looked around on-line for old instruction manuals (it’s a 1950’s version) to see if there was a secret to getting the beaters out.  No luck there either.

Finally cam across a you-tube video of how to use the juicer attachment (which I do not have).  Decided to watch and see if maybe they showed how to remove the beaters.  They just pulled them out!  But they were hard to get out in the video too.  So, maybe I’ll be able to get them out after I get it all cleaned up.  Lots of ‘grease marks’ all over it to clean.

I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT MY PRETTY NEW MIXER . . . . . . AND MY NEW HOME THAT I WILL BE TAKING IT TO IN LESS THAN A MONTH!!

Yep!  I finally found a place. . . . AND it has an attached garage!  Hallelujah for that garage!!  So, now it’s full steam ahead on the packing.

Seems like I have been ‘packing and purging’ for forEVER already.  feels so good to finally have an end in sight.  And I can’t wait to make the new place ‘my own’ and share the pictures and progress with you all here in my blog.

I’ve been heavily stocking my space at Stars in anticipation of my upcoming move.

P1200868I’ve got it full enough right now that I shouldn’t need to take in any more inventory until after I get moved.  All the furniture in my booth is stacked 2-3 pieces high, so I’ll just lower the stacks as things sell, and rearrange and tidy up every week as needed.

P1200919Took in a HUGE stack of frames last week!

P1200918Some really BIG gold frames, behind the big distressed framed chalk boards.

P1200914

A few ‘word cloud’ chalk boards; but the more popular name for these seems to be ‘speech bubbles’.  Great fun to use for photos at parties.

P1200915

A couple of vintage styled dry erase boards.

P1200922

And still MORE frames!

P1200856Here is a better look at a grouping of white and gold distressed frames that are a bit hidden in the above pictures.

P1200857It’s been ages since I’ve had a lot of frames in stick so they are bound to sell quickly!

P1200798How cute is this vintage pair of suede shoes!?!?

P1200871One of a kind teddy bear lamp that I made.

P1200842Over-stuffed ‘granny’ foot stool.

P1200844

And a couple more vintage foot stools; newly reupholstered.

P1200931I’ve built up quite the collection of vintage cream pitchers and sugar bowls.

P1200874And plenty of ‘butter bells’.  I LOVE my butter bell.  Keeps the butter nice and soft and FRESH without refrigeration.

P1200875And look at this CUTIE PATOOTIE mini butter bell with it’s mama!!!

P1200889Replenished the vintage Milk Glass dishes.  The gold rimmed ones are SO pretty!

P1200890Milk glass bowls and custard cups.

P1200891Pretty scalloped Milk Glass fruit cups and a creamer.

P1200893Gold rimmed serving bowl and a lace edge Milk Glass candy dish.  I’ve got several of the candy dished in this small size and a larger size.  Perfect for your party candy buffet!

P1200892Adorable Milk Glass egg cups.

P1200894LOTS of vintage Ironstone in stock too.

P1200877Dessert / Hors d’ourves size stoneware plates for your next party.  So much nicer to use than paper plates.

P1200880And of course Ironstone BOWLS.  Bowls always seem to sell the fastest.

P1200879And I’m well stocked on several sizes and styles of stoneware bowls and ramekins.

P1200878Including these extra BIG Ironstone soup/cereal bowls.

P1200873Plenty of white Ironstone canisters, utensil crocks and covered casserole dishes too.

P1200876Several sets of white stoneware napkin rings too!  Chickens, bunnies, kittens and plain ones.

P1200923And for those warm summer nights when you want to languish on the patio . . . this big rusty rooster is a candle lantern! One wing lifts up to place a candle inside.

P1200911So, fret not if you don’t hear much from me for the next month or so.  I’ve got a few posts ‘written and ready to publish’ saved up so I’ll have SOME new content to add.  But I’m going to be pretty much buried in bubble wrap and boxes for the next month.  Wish me luck!

Just in: Big batch of painted frames in my booth at Stars

Even in my diminished capacity with a bum right foot, I really HAVE to still maintain my booth at Stars.

I had started painting the big batch of frames I recently procured pre-plantar fasciitis.  Got a few more done in the brief window of when physical therapy lessened the pain and before it made it worse.  Then I suffered through finishing up the last few a little at a time . . . then took a 2 hour nap to recover!

P1130746I really have not been able to work on much other new stuff for my space, or really even go thrifting; so I really needed something NEW in my space.  The frames did the trick.

P1130745Did a little bit of rearranging in my space to make room for all the frames.  Since they usually sell out very quickly, I just propped the majority of them at the very front on my booth.  Easy to flip through and see them all.  Easy to grab for purchasing.

P1130750I  scattered a few of them throughout my booth also.

P1130747

I really PREFER to hang them on the wall, but I have so little wall space and they sell so quickly and I only get in to fluff my space once a week  . . . . so ‘propped on the floor’ it is for now!

P1130748I ended up going with black on those two vintage gold frames; the ones I was having trouble deciding what to do with.  The coat of black paint then a good sanding really brought out the details.

P1130742

Here’s a better look at them.

P1130749And a few of the smaller white frames prop nicely on the hanging candelabra.

P1130752I also rearranged the back corner of my booth, as shown here.  Putting the Pottery Barn cubby shelf atop a shelf; and the BIG cubby atop an old drawer to raise it up off the floor.  Then filled it all with vintage white dishes.

P1130763This white furniture was in front of the table, where the frames are now stacked.

P1130717And I moved the beach decor stuff to the table at the front. (and added a lot more of it!)

P1130715

These two turquoise wood shelves were at the back of the booth before.

WISHING ALL THE MOM’S OUT THERE A WONDERFUL MOTHER’S DAY TOMORROW!!!

Finding FRAMES: feast or famine!

It seems to be feast or famine when it comes to finding frames lately!  Used to be that I found ‘a frame or two’ EVERY time I went thrifting.  Anymore it seems I can go for MONTHS and not find a single frame.  Then when I finally DO find some, it’s a lot of them all at once!!  I buy them all, of course; but then I am so overwhelmed with so many of the same thing that I have a hard time deciding how to re-make or re-use them!

P1120730All of these were from just TWO thrifting trips.

P1120727

These are all PART of the next ‘frame feast’ find.

P1120728These from the same day as above.  I had really HOPED to leave that green one ‘as found’, but I did end up painting it.

P1120907Here is one of the smaller ones that I’ve re-painted and distressed.

P1120910I’ve been mostly painting this stash white and ivory; a few turquoise.

Just waiting for ROOM to take them into my booth at Stars.  Usually I just take ALL that I have all at once and just ‘prop them on the floor’.  They always sell so quickly that it’s just not worth my time to ‘work them into a display’.  With it being a 2 hour round trip (and the price of gas these days!) I just can’t afford to make the trip more than once a week.  Sometimes you just ‘gotta do what you gotta do”!

The only way I can make the frames ‘last long enough’ to work into a display is if I price them crazy HIGH!  And I kind of pride myself in having very reasonable prices.  sigh.  Maybe I’ll just work a ‘couple of them’ that I have duplicates of into a display!

Recent finds

Haven’t been ‘out shopping’ too much lately, as I am really trying to FORCE MYSELF to use up what I have before I buy more.  Especially when it comes to craft supplies!!!  I can ALWAYS find some ‘cool new stuff that I love and MUST have’ IF I go to a craft supply store.  Still stopping into a thrift store or two for a quick look on the days I am out and about running errands or stocking at Stars; but only allowing myself to buy things that are HALF PRICE.   Here’s what I’ve found in recent thrift trips:

Little wood chest, which I will repaint.

Some wood finials and a little jester ornament (it was only 50 cents so I couldn’t resist!  No idea what I will DO with it!)

Ugly/cute vintage baby doll!  The blue fur body is kinda CREEPY, but he had a sweet face.  Will probably add a crown!

Crepe paper garland/ fringe for crafting.

Cheesy picture but cute frame  which I will paint white.

JUST because it was so dang cute (and cheap!) gift bag!

Vintage wicker picnic basket; will be dry brush painted white or aqua.

Assorted glassware that will be made into cloches.

Counter jar and tiny cloches.

Blue vases.  The one on the right is from an ‘Edible Arrangement’ and makes a PERFECT base for a cake pedestal by gluing a plate to it.  The FLARED base gives it good balance.

Always need white canisters.  Big glass jar is handy for displaying small items in my booth.

Funky duck pitcher!  Have never seen one like THIS!  Usually they are ‘standing up’.  Have found several duck pitchers, both big and small, like that.  But this one was so unique and cheap I had to get it!

Pretty covered ceramic container.

Little white creamers.  Always need these and watch for them to go to half price.

Don’t usually buy them with designs on them, but this one I liked enough to buy.  The brown and tan one will go with my crock display at Stars.  That little one in the front is for melted butter.  It has a corn cob embossed on it.

How SWEET are these babies?!?!?!  These are BIG 11″ X 14″ pictures in really cheapo frames.  I just love the pouty lower lip on that baby boy!!

That will hold me over for a while.  I’ll be stocking a lot of that stuff at Stars today; along with quite a bit of Christmas stuff.  Even the brand new inventory I am taking in IS included in my 40% off  ‘down-sizing’ sale.

Recent findings

Cool vintage 50’s (?) deco style rack.  It’s actually sitting upside down for the picture because it wouldn’t balance right side up!  Probably paint this baby turquoise.

Frames to paint aqua and add starfish to.

I haven’t painted ay willow trees in a LONG time.  this one is painted on a piece of scrap plywood.

Antique looking frames; will sell these ‘as is’.

VERY TALL seashell candle holder.  Just needs a little freshening up with a quick coat of spray paint.

I’ve never seen a SQUARE muffin tin!  Adorable isn’t it??

Cute little trophy.  Don’t EVEN ask me why I needed this!

Frames

Never enough frames!  I’m always on the look out for frames.  Here are my recent finds:

These will probably be made into dry erase boards since they still have glass.

Fun cubby shelf.

Great vintage ones that I can sell ‘as is’.

Won’t these be cute to remake for Valentine’s Day?  Paint them white and glaze them.  Maybe even make the heart part into a chalk board for ‘love notes’.

Nice BIG one.

A casuality!  I dropped this one in the parking lot and it broke in half.  Hopefully I can put it back together.

Newest photos from my space at Stars

Seriously stocked up on black frames.  Notice I didn’t even bother to hang them or ‘display’ them creatively.  They just sell so fast and then I’m left with bare spots until I can get back in.

Big egg shaped finials.

BIG re-stock and revamp coming up next week, as soon as I’ve recovered from the spring show!

Frames

So, the other thing that I did a lot of last week for the store is frames. Mostly smaller ones this time, because I have NO ROOM on the walls for bigger ones. (the excess bigger frames have been packed away to go to the spring shows next month)

dsc000081

I almost NEVER find two of the exact same frame. So this set of FOUR matching black distressed frames is a really rare find. Painted this 10×10 mirror frame to match.

dsc000091

This big, ornate mirror really needs to be hung on the wall, but I just don’t have time right now to rearrange an entire wall. So it sits propped against a dresser for now.

dsc00010

dsc00011

Beachy blue frame and some shabby Paris style painted mirrors; again propped instead of hung!

dsc00013

Some of the white frames I was able to tuck into the back of some shelf displays.
